A potential Supernatural reboot gets the seal of approval from Eric Kripke. Kripke is the series creator of the hit fantasy show Supernatural and the superhero series The Boys. The CW show originally ran for 15 seasons from 2005 to 2010, featuring a Supernatural cast that included Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, Jim Beaver, Misha Collins, Mark Sheppard, and Alexander Calvert. It also spawned the spinoff series The Winchesters, which ran for a single season on the CW.
In an interview with Collider, Kripke spoke about the potential for a Supernatural reboot, responding that he would be interested in seeing it. He said that he “love[s] that universe” and would be willing to return to it if “there was something out there that really surprised” him. He says he would be “all in” if someone were to find a quality story in the universe that has not yet been told. Check out the full quote from Kripke below:
Of course, I’d want to see it. Whether I’m a part of it depends on, could I find something fresh about it that I have never seen before? Obviously, I’ve told a lot of those stories, but if there was something out there that really surprised me, I love that universe , and I’d be interested in looking at that. It’s tricky to find what story in that universe hasn’t been told, but if someone can find one, I’m all in, baby.
Why Is Now The Best Time for a Supernatural Reboot?
While it is unclear how much the original duo and Kripke have discussed a potential reboot, there have been conversations about their reunion in The Boys. After Kripke and Ackles expressed a desire for Padalecki to appear on the Prime Video show, the creator recently said there are more active offers for Padalecki to appear, saying “texts have been sent.” Therefore, given how close the Supernatural creative mind and the stars are, this only raises the likelihood that the Winchesters could be involved again if they can find the right story.
