Jurassic World Rebirth is coming to cinemas next summer and now we're just waiting for filming to finish.
The new Jurassic World movie has been filming since June and is set to wrap up in October. In late August, Universal revealed the official title for Jurassic World 4 and released first-look images and plot details (more on them below).
It isn't expected to continue directly on from Jurassic World Dominion and is planned to launch a new era for the franchise.
The new Jurassic World movie was announced in January 2024, with David Koepp – who wrote Jurassic Park and The Lost World: Jurassic Park – returning to write the movie.
As we wait for filming to wrap up in October, here's everything you need to know about Jurassic World Rebirth.
Jurassic World Rebirth release date: When is Jurassic World 4 released?
Jurassic World Rebirth has a confirmed release date of July 2, 2025 in UK and US cinemas. As ever, this is subject to potential delays.
The movie officially started filming on June 13, 2024 in Thailand where it's set to film for a month, before heading to Malta from July to September and wrapping up at Sky Studios Elstree in the UK, Variety reports.
It's a relatively tight turnaround for the movie to be completed for a July 2025 release date, but as long as everything goes to plan, that should be met.
Jurassic World Rebirth cast: Who's in Jurassic World 4?
Scarlett Johansson and Bridgerton star Jonathan Bailey – soon to be seen in Wicked – are leading the new movie as covert ops expert Zora Bennett and palaeontologist Dr Henry Loomis, respectively.
They're joined by Mahershala Ali as Zora's team leader Duncan Kincard and Rupert Friend as drug rep Martin Krebs, while Philippine Velge, Bechir Sylvani and Ed Skrein make up other members of Zora's team.
The movie also stars Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as Reuben Delgado, the father of a family who's been shipwrecked on an island. Luna Blaise, David Iacono and Audrina Miranda play members of the Delgado family.
It's not been officially confirmed, but previous Jurassic stars such as Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum are not expected to reprise their roles for the movie.
Pratt addressed his potential return in May 2024 and stopped short of confirming one way or the other, but he did say: "Maybe I return. Maybe I don't. You'll just have to tune in to find out."
Neill seemed to suggest he won't be back, though. "All I know is what I see on social media, that I hardly ever look at. I have no idea what anyone's thinking at all," he said in March 2024, responding to news of the new movie.
Back in June 2022, Howard told Digital Spy that Dominion brought her story as Claire Dearing "to a conclusion", but she didn't rule out a future return, saying: "Could I come back in 20 years in a movie like the legacy cast? That would be super cool."
Glen Powell, who voiced Dave in Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous, revealed in May 2024 that he turned down a role in the movie. It's unclear whether it was the same character or a new one, and now we'll likely never know.
Earlier this year, a leaked cast list supposedly revealed that Community star Joel McHale was going to be in the movie.
He's not in the official cast list and addressed the rumours to Collider in September 2024. "If you know something, that would be great. Because I don't know anything. I know nothing," he joked.
"My 16-year-old was making fun of me. He was like, 'Hey Dad, I heard you're gonna be in Jurassic World. Boy, how wrong are they, huh?' And I was like, 'Okay, kid...'. No, I have not heard – no, I don't know where that started."
Behind the scenes, Gareth Edwards – who's directed the likes of Rogue One, Godzilla and The Creator – has taken over from David Leitch (who was briefly attached to the movie) as director.
Jurassic World Rebirth plot: What is Jurassic World 4 about?
Along with the first images of Jurassic World Rebirth, Universal released the plot details for the new movie (via Variety).
It's set five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion at a time when the "planet's ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs".
"Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived," the synopsis reads. "The three most colossal creatures within that tropical biosphere hold the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind."
Johansson's Zora Bennett is hired to lead the team extracting the DNA from those three dinosaur species.
Of course, this is a Jurassic movie, so things don't go smoothly and her team comes across a family "whose boating expedition was capsized by marauding aquatic dinos", leading to them being stranded on the island.
And on that island, everybody is about to come "face-to-face with a sinister, shocking discovery that's been hidden from the world for decades".
We imagine the discovery won't be that humans should have never brought back dinosaurs in the first place.

Sadly, we don't have anything to show you yet, even with filming now under way on Jurassic World 4.
Assuming that planned summer 2025 release goes ahead, maybe we'll be treated to a teaser later this year once filming has wrapped up.
