Greta Gerwig’s Narnia Begins Filming in July 2025!

In a new interview with Deadline, producer Amy Pascal confirmed that Netflix’s Chronicles of Narnia adaptation, directed by Greta Gerwig, will begin filming in July 2025. (She talks about Narnia at the 21:19 mark)

This marks a major milestone for the project, which has been in development since Netflix acquired the rights to the series in 2018.

After years of speculation and anticipation, this confirmation finally puts Narnia fans on a firm timeline. If the production stays on schedule, the first film could realistically hit its targeted late-2026 release window.

Pascal’s announcement suggests that key pre-production tasks—casting, location scouting, and set design—are either underway or imminent. We reported earlier this week that filming will take place at Shepperton Studios in England, according to The Times. If all goes according to plan, this will be the first Narnia movie since The Voyage of the Dawn Treader in 2010.

Additionally, Pascal was asked if this would be a “new take” on Narnia.

“A very new take. It’s all about rock and roll,” she replied. What did she mean by this? Was it meant in jest? Comment below!
