Nicholas Hoult is excited to amplify his resume with another superhero film but as a villain this time. Fans have been aware of Hoult portraying the character of Beast in Marvel’s X-Men saga for years. However, he is all ready to change camps, much like James Gunn with the upcoming Superman.
Fans have been intrigued about the casting choice of every important character in the movie. However, unlike what David Corenswet faced for his role, Nicholas Hoult’s casting as Lex Luthor was met with a positive reception from fans.
Interestingly, it seems like Hoult himself has some interesting plans for his character in DC. His debut in the franchise, though, is yet to hit the theaters. So only time will tell how successful his ideas become in the future.

2025 seems like it would be a significant year for Nicholas Hoult as much as it is slated to become for DC Studios. Superman would mark the start of the DCU, the current head James Gunn has planned for after the upheaval the studio went through.
As such, the upcoming movie might just decide the direction the future takes for the studio as well as Gunn’s reign. The movie would be equally important to the actors as well who will be portraying the much-loved characters for the first time.
Fans admittedly are waiting with bated breath to see David Corenswet as Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as the antagonist Lex Luthor. While this would mark Hoult’s first time as a supervillain, by no means is it his first superhero movie.
In fact, he has years of experience with his two co-stars when it comes to the genre. As such, the excitement in the fandom to see his portrayal of the iconic villain, after his portrayal of Beast in the X-Men series for almost eight years (IMDb) has been off the charts.
Many have noted how pleasantly surprised they are at how similar Hoult looks to Luthor from the comics. The actor seems to be plenty excited for his upcoming movie as well. He expressed the same during a panel at the recently held MegaCon festival.
As per CBR, the Nosferatu actor noted that he was first introduced to the world of Superman through the CW show Smallville, who was present at the festival as well. Hoult also claimed that he planned to hang out with Michael Rosenbaum, who portrays Lex Luthor in the show as well.

Nicholas Hoult seemed to be in a jolly mood at the MegaCon, taking the time to answer many questions from fans about his upcoming movie.
As per CBR, Hoult noted that he feels superhero movies are important in today’s world.
I feel like superhero movies are a part of history. I also love the reimagining of history. It’s not always completely accurate, but you can tell stories that are really relevant today without pushing an agenda.
Moreover, he also shared his appreciation for James Gunn’s writing during the interview. According to him, the way Gunn has written his character is “very fun and smart”. Although he was adamant not to give away spoilers. Regardless, it might be this very aspect that makes him want to embody Luthor for a long time.
There’s so much I want to do with Lex [Luthor]. I hope to play that character for a while.
Nicholas Hoult further noted that even if he has joined DC now, he would still be open to recreating his Beast in Marvel again. In any case, the MCU has already revived Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine in the franchise.
Reports of them integrating the X-Men and the Fantastic Four in the upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars have also been going around for a while. So it might not be too long before he gets to play Beast again. It’ll be interesting to see if he manages to portray Lex Luthor for just as long.
Superman flies into the theaters on July 11th. The X-Men movies on the other hand are available on Disney+.
