‘Camp Rock 3’ In The Works At Disney

Pack your bags kids. We’re going back.

A couple of months ago, our friends at Boardwalk Times first reported that a third Camp Rock film was in development. While the story gained some traction at the time, the hype died down because there wasn’t enough evidence to support whether it was true or not.

Earlier today, industry insider Daniel RPK took to his Patreon account with some additional details.

He states that the project is being led by executive producer Tim Federle (High School Musical: The Musical: The Series) with a script from Fuller House writer Eydie Faye. And that a new character by the name of “Sage” is being cast as the next potential lead of the franchise.

Now, usually we would report all this info as a simple rumor. However, we at The DisInsider have looked into all of this info ourselves and can confirm 100% that Camp Rock 3 is in the works!

We can also confirm Federle’s involvement and that production is set for this summer for a potential release of next year!

Per Production Weekly, the most current synopsis is as follows:

“When a popular band needs to find a new opening act, they launch a contest to discover the next big musical talent.”

Given that the project still is in its early stages, it’s unclear if Demi Lovato, The Jonas Brothers or any of the other cast members will reprise their roles in the original film. But given how many alumni Federle got to appear in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, we believe anything is possible.

What do you think of the beloved musical franchise coming back to life? Sound off below!

The original Camp Rock was directed by Matthew Diamond and stars Lovato and Joe Jonas as a couple of teens who attend a camp for talented artists and fall in love. The sequel , The Final Jam, follows the same cast of young performers as they try to fend off the rival Camp Star from taking over Camp Rock – or worse, forcing it to close down forever.
