The beloved animated series King of the Hill is getting revived with an all-new season coming to Hulu this summer. As the updated show is set 15 years after the events of the original series, the characters are all notably much older, meaning Bobby Hill is now a young man.
On Father's Day, Hulu shared a new preview for the King of the Hill revival. While brief, the preview does include some actual footage from the show, revealing new interactions between an older Bobby (Pamela Adlon) and his father, Hank (Mike Judge). This also marks the first time fans have heard Bobby's voice, which sounds familiar but a bit older to reflect how he's no longer a child. Some things never change, however, given the different ways Hank and Bobby see things in the world — including beer. Check out the video below.
The synopsis of the reboot has shared more details about what's been happening with the Hill family since fans last saw them in the original show. Surprisingly, Hank had taken up a job in Saudia Arabia, taking him away from Arlen for many years before his eventual return to his old home. Meanwhile, Bobby is now working as a professional chef, a nod to how the original show explored the character's passion and talent for cooking.
Return to Arlen With the King of the Hill Revival
Before the King of the Hill revival went into development, the show had lost two other major stars from its cast. Brittany Murphy, who voiced Luanne in the original, passed away in 2009 at the age of 32. After voicing Lucky, Luanne's partner, music legend Tom Petty died in 2017 at the age of 66. There has been no indication at this time that those roles have been recast, or that either character will appear in the new series.
The new King of the Hill season will premiere on Hulu on Aug. 4, 2025.
