And Just Like That… Shocker: Sex and the City Revival to End With Season 3 at HBO Max

And Just Like That… the Sex and the City revival is over.

HBO Max announced Friday that the sequel series will end its three-season run with a two-part series finale, airing Thursday, Aug. 7 and 14.

“And just like that… the ongoing storytelling of the Sex and the City universe is coming to an end,” Michael Patrick King said in a statement Friday. “While I was writing the last episode of And Just Like That… Season 3, it became clear to me that this might be a wonderful place to stop. Along with Sarah Jessica Parker, Casey Bloys and Sarah Aubrey, we decided to end the popular series this year with a two-part finale and extended the original series order from 10 episodes to 12.

“SJP and I held off announcing the news until now because we didn’t want the word ‘final’ to overshadow the fun of watching the season,” King explained. “It’s with great gratitude we thank all the viewers who have let these characters into their homes and their hearts over these many years.”

And Just Like That… premiered in December 2021, and follows Carrie (Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte (Kristin Davis) “as they navigate the journey from the complicated reality of life and friendship in their 30s to the even more complicated reality of life and friendship in their 50s,” according to the official logline.

Kim Cattrall, who starred alongside Parker, Nixon and Davis during Sex and the City’s original six-season run, reprised her role as Samantha Jones for a cameo in the Season 2 finale.
