Amazon Prime’s Life Is Strange Series May Have Found Its Max Caulfield

Information on Prime Video's upcoming Life is Strange television series adaptation has, thus far, been fairly scarce. But we know it's in the works, we know people are already complaining about it, and now, we might just have an inkling as to who will lead the inevitably star-studded cast.

We're reporting on something today that access is limited to, which is to say, it's a bit of a secondhand situation. But what we can say for certain is that, should this report prove accurate, Maisy Stella will be front-and-center in the Life is Strange show.

Max, Is That You?

As you can (hopefully) see above, the scoop doesn't come from DiscussingFilm, but they've done a wonderful job of yoinking the relevant news tidbit from The InSneider. The InSneider, for the record, is industry intel fellow Jeff Sneider's subscription-based, scoop-filled, website.

The Life is Strange casting portion isn't visible to non-paid types, and I'll be real; my subscriptions are already overflowing, as-is. Game Informer, No Clip, the list goes on. I'm sorry, Jeff Sneider, but I can't fork up the cash. Thus, TheGamer's own report is actually thirdhand, but we trust DiscussingFilm not to make something up!

So, who might Maisy Stella be playing? The obvious guess is protagonist Max Caulfield, and frankly, it'd be surprising to discover otherwise. Again, we really don't know much about the show. We know it's coming; we know who's making it:

"Based on the video game franchise of the same name, the show will be written by Charlie Covell, who also serves as executive producer and showrunner. Dmitri M. Johnson, Mike Goldberg, and Timothy I. Stevenson will executive produce under their Story Kitchen banner. The series comes from Square Enix, Story Kitchen, and LuckyChap, with Amazon MGM Studios producing." -Variety

Up until now, and, of course, presuming that Sneider's scoop proves accurate, this is just about all we knew. But it's hard for me to imagine the creators not going the route that fans will be familiar with. Never say never, but the safest path forward would be a Max-starring production, and if Stella's the "lead," it's a two-and-two-together bit of puzzle-solving. Looking forward to watching the actress rock the look.
