Stranger Things Star Wants To Play MCU Harry Osborn Amid Rumors

Following ongoing fan speculation, a Stranger Things star has addressed swirling rumors about a potential Marvel Cinematic Universe role. As the actor wraps up work on Netflix’s hit series, he openly entertained the idea of playing Harry Osborn, one of Spider-Man’s most iconic allies and adversaries.

Joe Keery talks about the prospects of playing Harry Osborn in the MCU

Joe Keery has responded to rumors about joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), specifically addressing fan speculation that he may play Harry Osborn. In an interview with ScreenRant while promoting his film Cold Storage, Keery acknowledged the rumors and said, “I am familiar with Spider-Man,” referencing TikTok edits showing him as the Osborn character. He added, “It’s fun to entertain” the idea of playing Peter Parker’s friend.

When asked more directly, Keery said, “The right thing happens at the right time,” and added, “at the end of the day, [there’s] only so much you can plan.” He also stated, “I guess you just keep your eyes open, and you read a ton and just hope for the best, I guess. [But] sure. Come on. Where’s the script? Let’s go.”

Keery’s comments come as rumors of his involvement with Marvel Studios have been circulating since January 2026. One of the most recurring fan-cast ideas is that he might portray Harry Osborn in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, releasing July 31, 2026. However, insider Daniel Richtman has claimed Keery may instead be in talks for a different MCU role.

Fans frequently cast Joe Keery as Nova or Scott Summers/Cyclops. Both characters are expected to appear in upcoming Marvel projects. Insider Daniel Richtman claimed that Ahsoka actor Eman Esfandi may have already secured the Spider-Man 4 role rumored to be MJ’s new boyfriend.

James Franco and Dane DeHaan portrayed Harry Osborn in previous Spider-Man franchises. So far, Willem Dafoe’s Norman Osborn is the only Osborn to appear in the MCU, debuting in No Way Home. If Marvel confirms Keery’s casting, he could reunite with Stranger Things co-star Sadie Sink, who already plays an undisclosed role in Brand New Day.
