Greys Anatomy Has Been Renewed for Season 23.

22 seasons of medical cases, steamy romance, family issues, and workplace drama will continue to unfold on ABC. The Shonda Rhimes created medical drama Greys Anatomy has been renewed by ABC for season 23.

The series remains historical as the longest-running primetime medical drama in TV history since 2018.

With over 450 episodes airing since its premiere season in March 2025, the medical drama continues to entertain, pull in new viewers, and engage old fans alike each season as interns, residents, and seasoned Physicians have come and gone from the Seattle based fictional hospital.

In 2025, it ranked as the No. 1 most-streamed series on Disney+ and Hulu, and No. 2 overall in the U.S., per Nielsen. The series focuses on the fictional lives of surgical interns and residents as they evolve into seasoned doctors while trying to maintain personal lives. The series has received monumentous and critical acclaim throughout the years. Winning top cinema industry awards in various areas, from writing, to casting, to individual accolades, and much more.

Hollywood talents such as Patrick Dempsey, Katherine Heigl, Sandra Oh, and Eric Dane (late) were vital parts of the shows success in the early years. Grey's Anatomy was among the ten highest-rated shows in the United States from the show's first through fourth season.

As the show continues its run on ABC, fan favorites from season 1 which include titular character Meredith Grey played by Ellen Pompeo, Chandra Wilson who plays Miranda Bailey, and James Pickens Jr. who plays Richard Webber continue to round out the ensemble. Although Pompeo has been in a reduced role for several seasons now—these 3 main stays have become iconic and well love characters not only in the world of medical dramas but throughout the world of television.
