Peugeot e-Legend Review 2022

Peugeot’se-Legend conception could make it to product, but not until after 2020, according to brand CEO Jean-Philippe Imperato.

The Paris Motor Show star, featuring an advanced completely-electric drivetrain and driverless technology, matched to antique aesthetics and interior trim, has been a hit with auto suckers who ’ve indeed started an online solicitation prompting Peugeot to make the auto.

And Imperato has given them hope by telling Auto Express, “ We love it, but it’s not relatively in the channel. But we could produce it if we wanted to.”

Peugeot’s main focus is that the brand meets the EU’s average CO2 emigrations target of 95g/ km from 2020 so that it wo n’t dodge any penalties. “ We wo n’t pay one Euro, Pound, Dollar or RMB as we will be biddable,” said Imperato.

Still, buses like thee-Legend and any unborn GTI models will have to stay until after 2020, with Imperato telling us, “ We must be completely biddable on the CO2 side before we start to develop any of these models.

“ We'll mount a performance offer, but not before our global balance on the CO2 side is secured.”

The online solicitation also got the attention of the Peugeot master, with him opining on Twitter, “ If we get to we might really have to consider it …”

. Imperato suggested that any unborn performance model could make use of Peugeot’s new draw-in mongrel powertrain, also blazoned at the Paris show, with over to 296bhp from its petrol/ electric blend with four- wheel drive. Plug-in mongrels with either 296bhp or 222bhp will start to appear in 3008 and 508 models from coming afterlife.

Peugeote-Legend conception in detail

Peugeot's Paris Motor Show conception auto is an each-electric, independent, ultramodern evocation of the iconic 504 Coupe. Called Peugeote-Legend, the retro-futuristic design takes its profile from the 504 Coupe and blends it with some of the establishment’s more contemporary design rudiments to produce a traditional three box coupe, with what Peugeot says are “ realistic” proportions.

Unlike numerous ultramodern show buses, the overall profile of thee-LEGEND is less radical and far further exchange friendly, with duly sized windows, no unrealistic protuberances and indeed veritably product auto like 19- inch bus. Against the vid measure, it sizes up at mm long, mm wide and mm altitudinous – nothing out of the ordinary for a ultramodern coupe.

The frontal end interpretation of the 504 Coupe uses double lighting modules to mind back to the original auto’s four- piece headlights, though the units are broken up with further ultramodern looking Peugeot triadic “ claw” lighting autographs, mirroring the auto’s taillights.

The square frontal end boasts a dummy tulle inspired by the history, but it wears an illuminated Peugeot emblem front and centre. Wheel bends sculpted into the bodywork are a ultramodern take on old- academy plastic trim bends. Pooching aluminium shafts finished in black, intended to mind back to classic auto fenders, cover both the front and hinder ends of the auto.

Those fenders are commodity Peugeot design master Gilles Vidal tells he wants to explore for unborn product models. With front and hinder fenders getting more intricate, it’s getting more delicate to package vehicles for maximum safety.

“ You need a certain length of material to absorb shocks. As the regulations grow harder, and harder for the good reasons of safety, it means the frontal protuberances of buses grow bigger and bigger. It’s a veritably ultramodern and contemporary reason to use this kind of touch.

“ It would be amazing, but presumably hard to achieve. It's an idea we want to explore”, he explains.

Away on the auto’s surface, further futuristic traces are plant in the form of side cameras over side glasses, and small displays placed at the base of each C- pillar, used to display a welcome communication upon unleashing the auto and charge status.

With similar real- world proportions it’s easy to see how thee-LEGEND could fluently transfigure into a auto not out of place on the road, but Vidal tells us “ It’s not in our plans for now”, given the bitsy size of the coupe member in Europe.

“ You can always make commodity like this economically feasible but it’s always also the question of how important plutocrat do you put on the table for how important gain latterly. There's an egregious gain in terms of brand image, but it’s a tricky question for the top operation of the company. Positive feedback helps, but it does n’t wrap up the decision”.

The cabin mixes next- generation infotainment technology with classic accoutrements. It’s hard to miss the blend of rich silk velvet on the seats and 60s style wood each around the cabin, but the main infotainment display sits in the frontal bottom well. The twisted screen measures up at 49- elevation in size, but it’s not the only display plant outside.

There’s a digital instrument display behind the wheel, plus a brace of 29- inch defenses acting as door cards and two further 12- inch displays hidden in each sun bill. It’s all controlled through either voice activation or a six- inch touchscreen raying out between the two frontal seats, complete with a rotary dial.

Thee-LEGEND uses a bespoke electric platform with an all- wheel- drive powertrain fed by a 100kWh battery pack. Power is rated at 456bhp, with 800Nm of necklace on valve too. Peugeot claims such a setup would be able of propelling the conception from 0-62mph in lower than four seconds and on to a top speed of 137mph. Range is rated at 373 country miles under WLTP, while rapid-fire charging tech means an 80 per cent top over can be achieved in 25 twinkles. It’s academic for now, but Peugeot says numbers like this are a “ realistic vision” of what’s around the corner for EVs, and a target for 2025.

Thee-LEGEND is n’t just about showcasing unborn design and battery tech either – independent driving capabilities form a large part of the conception’s character. It features two separate independent modes, one pairing back the quantum of information shown on the auto’s multitudinous displays for further laid back independent peregrinations, the other unleashing the full magazine of connectivity features. The steering wheel folds down into the dashboard when the auto is driving autonomously, and the frontal seats slope too.
