Friday the 13th‘s Jason Vorhees got to fight Nightmare on Elm Street‘s Freddy Krueger and now Don Mancini wants his iconic horror killer doll Chucky to as well!
While chatting to CoveredGeekly‘s Christopher Gallardo about Chucky‘s upcoming Season 3 Part 2, the topic of his long-desired “Freddy vs. Chucky” movie pitch was brought up – and he says he still wants to make it happen.
While on the topic of Chucky potentially one-day joining Mortal Kombat to fight his fellow horror icons, Mancini touched on his desire to see just that but in the “movie realm” of Hollywood too.
Mancini: In the movie realm, in the realm of filmed entertainment – I would love to see Chucky pair up with a fellow horror icon. I think that would be really fun and I have an idea that I’ve pitched publicly several times over the years about Chucky and Freddy [Krueger], which I think would be hilarious because they’re both chatty.
I always thought that Freddy vs. Jason – I enjoyed that movie on a number of levels, I felt like they can’t really have an interesting double act because Jason doesn’t talk… you know?
Whereas Chucky and Freddy… you know, they can.
So, I would really love to see that!
Although Chucky’s fate in Season 3 doesn’t look promising, Mancini has gone on the record multiple times to state that he still has plenty of plans for the horror icon’s future in Hollywood.
Including his recently revived tease of a “Chucky in Space” movie concept, when he told Screen Rant earlier this year that if fans of the franchise want it to happen then he’ll “eventually” get around to doing it.
“Do you [the fans] personally want him to go [to space]? If there’s enough of a demand for that, eventually – I don’t know how quickly – I have an idea for that,” Mancini teased.
Fans will just have to wait and see what Mancini, Brad Dourif, and the team have in store!
