They find themselves in a mirror universe with their doppelgangers, but eventually make their way back home. Season 2 found the crew investigating mysterious signals and something (or someone) called the "Red Angel." The season ends with Discovery traveling more than 900 years into the future where the Federation seems to be in shambles. The crew investigates the "Burn," a cataclysmic event during Season 3. By season's end, Burnham is promoted to captain of the Discovery.
