It looks like Disney learned their lesson by not giving Dan Trachtenberg's 2022 Prey a theatrical release, so they're rectifying that by putting his follow-up, Predator: Badlands, in theaters on November 7, 2025.
Starring Elle Fanning (The Neon Demon, The Great, the upcoming Death Stranding 2: On the Beach), Predator: Badlands is believed to be another standalone solo movie in the Predator universe, and not a sequel to Prey.
While Fanning is presumably one of these sisters, it's unknown who will play the other. Perhaps Elle's real life sister Dakota could be a good contender? It wouldn't be the first time they've shared the screen, after all.
Prey, which starred Amber Midthunder as a young Comanche woman facing off against the infamous extraterrestrial behemoth, not only broke streaming records for Hulu but also earned itself six Emmy nominations – not to mention three FANGORIA Chainsaw Award wins for Best Costume Design, Best Creature FX and Best Streaming Premiere Film. Needless to say, releasing Badlands in theaters is a no-brainer from a financial standpoint.
That's the good news – the bad news is that Predator: Badlands has slipped into the spot previously occupied by Marvel's planned Blade reboot, which has seen numerous stalls in production and drop-outs in cast and crew. While Blade could be reshuffled for a later date, it's not looking hopeful for the vampire action-horror at the moment.
Frankly, November 7, 2025 can't come quickly enough – we'll bring you updates on Predator: Badlands as they roll in.
