King of the Hill is just one of the many IPs Disney revived after purchasing Fox, and the series is getting closer to its Hulu release. The animated sitcom ran between 1997 and 2010 and the revival will continue the story.
In a series of pictures shared on her Instagram account, voice actor Grey DeLisle revealed the highly-anticipated first look at Bobby Hill from the new King of the Hill animated sitcom. The character is now all grown up, taller than he was in the series, and he sports a beard now. He will also be working as a chef in the revival series.
The first look at Bobby Hill also includes his chef biography. Explaining that he has "loved food his whole life," he has a fusion restaurant, and his career as a robata chef "was inspired by his most cherished memory of all — weekends spent grilling with his dad," the description notes. Further details note that Bobby is a "self-taught chef" and "one of the youngest contestants on King of the Grill."
Pamela Adlon, who voiced Bobby Hill on the original show, will return to continue the character's journey. She previously revealed that in the revival, he will be 21 years old, and he looks like he found incredible success really fast.
"We're in the second season [creating] the reboot, and Bobby is 21," Adlon said. "He's a chef in a fusion restaurant in Dallas. And it's been incredible. It's just been really fun. I think it's been freakier for Mike and Greg to think about Bobby going from 12 to being 21 and having a relationship and being a person. But don't we all go through that with our kids and our friends' kids? It is shocking when I see my friends' kids and they're all grown up. And I'm like, 'Wait a second, what just happened?' So, it's just a little bit of a mess."
Who Will Voice the Rest of the Characters?
The original series followed the Hill family, putting Hank, Peggy, Bobby, Dale, and Bill in the spotlight as they dealt with their day-to-day issues with life, work, and neighbors. The original animated sitcom won two Primetime Emmys and came from Greg Daniels (The Office) and Mike Judge (Silicon Valley). Although the original creators stepped down as showrunners after Season 4, they will be a part of the new revival of King of the Hill. Judge, who voiced Hank Hill on the original series, will return to voice the character.
DeLisle also shared a 360-video of herself, which she captioned as "wrap party." The voice actress is not credited on the revival and there is no confirmation as to who she will play. However, one of the pictures in the set the actress posted seems to lead fans to believe she might voice Nancy Hicks-Gribble. In the original series, the character was voiced by Ashley Gardner.
Many members of the cast are also officially coming back to voice their previous roles. Kathy Najimy, Stephen Root, and Lauren Tom will return to play Peggy, Bill, and Connie, respectively. Johnny Hardwick sadly passed away in December 2023, and he only got to return for a handful of episodes as Dale.
The King of the Hill revival is set to premiere on Hulu, although there's no official release date at the time of publication.
