Euphoria's Fate Confirmed by HBO Ahead of Season 3

It's been a bit of a rocky production for the third season of Euphoria. Now, the Season 3 episodes are officially in production, but it may be the last time that the gang will be back together.

Per Deadline, the future of Euphoria was addressed by HBO's head of drama, Francesca Orsi. Noting that she was paying a visit to the set, Orsi mentioned how "relieved" everyone was to have the new episodes filming after having some issues getting to that point. She also shared that Season 3 is expected to conclude Euphoria, though nothing is set in stone at this point. While this might disappoint fans hoping to see the show make it to Season 4 and beyond, the good news is that the third season is written in a way that will bring satisfactory endings to the characters' story arcs, according to Orsi.

“I wanted to give them their first week to themselves to settle in. They have beautifully,” Orsi said at the premiere of HBO's The White Lotus Season 4. “I talked to Sam [Levinson] this morning at like, 6:30 in the morning on his way to set. Everyone’s so happy to be back, and I’m relieved we’re finally here.”

Everyone’s so happy to be back, and I’m relieved we’re finally here.

Orsi continued, “We’ve talked about it, I don’t think anything is over until it’s over, but it’s been discussed that this is the end. I think you will be very satisfied with this season, and how we bring each of the characters’ whole narrative."

Season 3 of Euphoria will include a time jump that brings the characters out of high school, picking up as they explore their new lives as young adults. Returning stars include Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, and Colman Domingo. Not everyone is expected to be back, as Barbie Ferreira and Storm Reid have said they will not return for Season 3. Angus Cloud, who appeared in the first two seasons as Fez O'Neill, also passed away in 2023.

Season 3 Had Some Issues With Production

Filming on the third season was previously impacted by various factors resulting in delays, such as the WGA strike of 2023 and Sam Levinson's focus on his short-lived HBO series The Idol. The deaths of Cloud and executive producer Kevin Turen further affected production. At one point, filming was slated to start in Spring 2023, but creative concerns led to rewrites and added filming delays. The third season may in fact end up wrapping the show, though it came so close to not getting made at all that this could be seen as bittersweet.

The third and potentially final season of Euphoria is expected debut sometime in 2026. Previous seasons are streaming on Max.
