HBO’s Parasite TV Show Gets Status Update From Bong Joon-Ho After Years Of No News

HBO's Parasite TV show finally received a status update from Bong Joon-ho, who directed the original movie. After the success of Bong's Parasite film, which was released in 2019, HBO announced that it was developing a show based on the story of the movie. However, there hasn't been word on the show's status since 2023, when HBO exec Francesca Orsi identified it as closer to early development than a pickup to series.

In an interview with Deadline at the premiere of Mickey 17, Bong provided an update on the Parasite show that confirms it's still in active development, revealing that the writers are working very hard. However, he admitted that it's going to "take a while" for the show to be released. Read his full comments below:

The writers are working very hard on it, they're fiercely writing. I think the writing room of that show itself can be another TV show. Just wait a bit longer, it's gonna take a while.
