The Netflix May 2025 list of new arrivals is as jam-packed as usual. The first notable Netflix Original series of the month is The Four Seasons. An adaptation of Alan Alda‘s 1981 film of the same name, the miniseries remake follows three couples across four different vacations throughout the year as they navigate the trials and tribulations of life together. The star-studded cast is led by Colman Domingo, Will Forte, Steve Carell, and Tina Fey, the latter of whom co-created this Netflix adaptation alongside comedy writers Lang Fisher (Never Have I Ever) and Tracey Wigfield (Saved By The Bell). All 8 episodes of The Four Seasons have just been added to Netflix as of May 1, 2025.
Another new Netflix Original limited series to look out for in May 2025 is Forever, a modern romantic drama adaptation of the 1975 Judy Blume novel of the same name. Set in 2018 Los Angeles, Forever centers around two young Black athletes (played by newcomers Lovie Simone and Michael Cooper Jr.) as they experience love for the first time with each other. With Mara Brock Akil, the creator of the beloved Black sitcoms Girlfriends and The Game, serving as showrunner and Regina King (One Night in Miami, The Harder They Fall) as director, Forever is not to be missed when it debuts on Netflix on May 8, 2025.
Next up on the streamer is yet another miniseries, Sirens. Created by Molly Smith Metzler and based on her 2011 play, Elemeno Pea, the Netflix show follows a high-society gathering at a beach estate, where Devon DeWitt (Meghann Fahy) becomes deeply concerned with her sister Simone’s (Milly Alcock) creepy relationship with her new boss, Michaela Kell (Julianne Moore). The salacious black comedy series co-stars Kevin Bacon and Glenn Howerton, making it an utter delight for fans of “Eat the Rich” satires. Those Netflix subscribers who recently enjoyed movies like Triangle of Sadness, The Menu, and Opus will have a lot to dig into when Sirens premieres on Netflix on May 22, 2025.
The Emmy-winning Netflix anthology series Love, Death + Robots is also returning for its fourth season on May 15, 2025. The animated show began as an adaptation of the magazine Heavy Metal until executive producers David Fincher and Tim Miller evolved it into its own technology-based anthology. Due to its nature, each wave of episodes has always featured a wide variety of genre-bending stories, but Volume 4 is set to take Love, Death + Robots to even more taboo places. David Fincher directs a puppet recreation of the Red Hot Chili Peppers‘ 2003 concert at Slane Castle in Ireland. Meanwhile, Mr. Beast himself voices a host who oversees brutal gladiator fights in a futuristic colosseum in another episode.
Of course, it’s not a truly great line-up without at least one highly anticipated Netflix Original film. This month’s pick is Fear Street: Prom Queen. The Fear Street trilogy was a unique experiment in slasher horror that paid off, so it’s no wonder the streamer is continuing that with a fresh standalone entry. The Netflix movie takes place in 1988, just as the “It Girls” at Shadyside High School are competing to be voted the latest prom queen. When an unusual candidate for prom queen shakes up expectations, other nominees start to vanish at the hands of a mysterious masked killer. The R.L. Stine adaptation is poised to delight horror fans when it lands on Netflix on May 23, 2025!
The Netflix original show Dept. Q, starring Matthew Goode (A Discovery of Witches, Watchmen), holds plenty of potential as well. Created by Scott Frank (The Queen’s Gambit, Logan), the British crime thriller follows former top-rated detective Carl Morck (Goode) as he establishes a cold case unit in an old Edinburgh basement office space with misfit officers willing to take on cases that no one else will. Based on the books by Jussi Adler-Olsen, Department Q could be the next smash hit crime series for Netflix. However, subscribers will have to wait until the end of the month on May 29, 2025, to find out.
Two fan-favorite Netflix animated shows are sadly coming to an end in May 2025. The eighth and final season of Big Mouth, an animated coming-of-age sitcom co-created by comedian Nick Kroll, will have its last laughs on the pains of puberty when it premieres on May 23, solidifying its legacy as one of Netflix’s longest-running series. The Greek mythology-based Blood of Zeus may not have had as long a run, but throughout its first two seasons, it has received considerable critical acclaim. That praise is all but guaranteed to continue when the third and last season arrives on the Netflix streaming platform on May 8.
A colorful mix of older classics and recent gems are getting added to the streaming giant across May 2025. For people wanting their vampire fix after the incredible success of Ryan Coogler’s Sinners, the entire Twilight saga will be ready to stream on May 1. Wallace & Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit and The Wild Robot are two of DreamWorks Animation’s very best and will now be available for families with Netflix subscriptions. Meanwhile, A24’s Past Lives and Mid90s are sure to entice eager cinephiles who haven’t yet caught those films. Finally, horror fans will be quick to binge the South Korean zombie action flicks Train to Busan and its sequel, Peninsula, when they hit Netflix on May 2.
