Margot Robbie Joins “50 Ft. Woman” Remake?

Margot Robbie is reported set to both star in and produce a remake of the B-movie cult classic “Attack of the 50 Foot Woman” reports The InSneider.

“Gone Girl” scribe and Primetime Emmy nominee Gillian Flynn was originally set to pen the script when the project was first reported back in early 2024. At the time, filmmaker Tim Burton was attached to direct.

Then in November last year, Burton downplayed those reports while appearing at the Marrakech Film Festival. At the time, he said he has “no real projects at the moment,” but admits that after being burned one too many times (eg. “Superman Lives”), he won’t confirm he’s doing something until they actually start shooting.

The new report indicates Burton is still onboard the project, which is set up at Warner Bros. Pictures and now Robbie’s LuckyChap Entertainment banner.

While Flynn’s script is the foundation, another writer is expected to take a script pass on the project.

Allison Hayes starred in the original as a wealthy heiress whose close encounter with an alien triggers her to grow into a giantess. This makes things complicated for her marriage, which is already in jeopardy due to a philandering husband. The film was a variation of other 1950s sci-fi films which saw people and creatures grown or shrunk to various sizes.
