The Golden Globes 2026 nominations list is finally ready to be announced! As is the new standard for the Globes, all 27 categories now include six nominees instead of five (like the Academy Awards) — allowing for more TV and movie stars to get their own deserving spotlight. These nominations mark the true beginning of the awards season, with many of this year’s critical hits like Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another, Ryan Coogler’s Sinners, and Chloé Zhao’s Hamnet expected to dominate on the film side. On the side of television, Apple TV’s The Studio, Netflix’s Adolescence, and HBO Max’s The Pitt are expected to rack up the most nominations following their winning streaks at the 2025 Emmys.
Beloved shows like Apple TV’s Severance, FX’s The Bear, Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building, and Disney’s Andor are also expected to have some kind of presence in the 2025 Golden Globe nominations. Newer shows, like Apple TV’s Pluribus, HBO’s The Chair Company, and yes, even Stranger Things Season 5, are eligible to get nominated, meaning that anything can truly happen. Moving back over to film, critical darlings like Joachim Trier’s Sentimental Value, Jafar Panahi’s It Was Just An Accident, Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, Clint Bentley’s Train Dreams, Noah Baumbach’s Jay Kelly, and Josh Safdie’s Marty Supreme (although it’s not publicly released yet) will be scrambling for whatever they can get to establish themselves as serious Oscar contenders.

Unique to the Golden Globes is the “Box Office and Cinematic Achievement” award, which can otherwise be seen as the globe for “best blockbuster.” The relatively new category was first won by Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, followed by Jon M. Chu’s Wicked. It’s likely that Wicked: For Good will now get nominated, but whether it can win is another story. It’s facing fierce competition from James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash, as well as Zootopia 2 and the global smash hit Ne Zha 2. Whether the latter two can beat Sony Pictures Animation’s KPop Demon Hunters, which is likely to get nominated and viewed as a favored underdog, in the Best Animated Feature category is a whole other question.
The 83rd annual Golden Globes ceremony, hosted by reality TV star and comedian Nikki Glaser, will air live on CBS and stream on Paramount+ on Sunday, January 11, 2026 at 5 pm PT/8 pm ET. Stay tuned as we update the full nominations list LIVE below and ring in the 2026 awards season!
