‘Boots’ Star Max Parker Joins ‘God Of War’ As ‘Ragnorak’ Baddie Heimdall

Max Parker (Boots) has joined the cast of Prime Video‘s God of War, based on PlayStation’s ancient mythology-themed video game.

He will star as Heimdall, the Watchman of Asgard and one of the sons of Odin. Heimdall is a god in his own right with the special ability to anticipate what’s about to happen at any moment. Handsome and dynamic, he feels unappreciated by his father and underestimated by the rest of the family, and as a result is constantly looking for ways to improve his position in the hierarchy and increase his stature and power.

The character of Heimdall first appears in the second God of War game, God of War Ragnarök, as an antagonist.

Parker will work alongside previously announced lead Ryan Hurst, who stars as Kratos, and Teresa Palmer, who Deadline exclusively revealed will play Phoebe/Sif, Thor’s wife and the goddess of family.

The live-action series, from Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios, has received a two-season order, with pre-production underway in Vancouver.

From writer, showrunner and executive producer Ronald D. Moore (OutlanderFor All Mankind), God of War follows father and son, Kratos and 10-year-old Atreus, as they embark on a journey to spread the ashes of their wife and mother, Faye. Through their adventures, Kratos tries to teach his son to be a better god, while Atreus tries to teach his father how to be a better human.

Kratos, the titular character of the franchise, is Spartan by birth and a god by nature. Raised in a martial culture, he rose to command armies in the service of his homeland until one day he made a fateful deal with Ares, the Greek God of War, and lost his soul in exchange for being victorious in battle.

Over the course of 10 successful video games, Kratos vanquished mortals, creatures and gods alike. In the process, he became an iconic character in pop culture, known for his stoic nature, unchallenged combat skills and tragic past.

God of War is co-produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios in association with PlayStation Productions and Tall Ship Productions. In addition to Moore, executive producers include Maril Davis, Cory Barlog, Naren Shankar, Matthew Graham, Asad Qizilbash, Jeff Ketcham, Hermen Hulst, Roy Lee and Brad Van Arragon. Joe Menosky, Marc Bernardin, Tania Lotia and Ben McGinnis co-executive produce. Frederick E.O. Toye (ShōgunThe Boys) has signed on to direct the first two episodes.

Parker is coming off the Netflix military dramedy Boots, the final project from the late legendary producer Norman Lear. Parker played Sgt. Liam Robert Sullivan in the show’s only season. Parker received the Visibility Award from the Human Rights Campaign, recognizing the impact and visibility his work in Boots brought to LGBTQ+ representation on a global platform.

His additional TV credits include Vampire Academy for Peacock, Emmerdale for ITV, Blood, Sex & Royalty for Netflix, and Doctor Who for BBC and Disney. Parker is repped by Thrive Talent, TalentWorks, 3 Arts Entertainment and Myman Greenspan Fox Rosenberg.
