While fans still wait for the first trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, details about the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film are being revealed through marketing materials. Brand New Day will be the 38th film in the MCU and the final one before Avengers: Doomsday. What is known about Tom Holland's fourth Spider-Man film is that it will feature Hulk, Punisher, Yelena Belova, Scorpion, and Sadie Sink as a mysterious new character.
The Penguin Random House page for Spider-Man: Brand New Day - The Art of the Movie book has seemingly revealed the first details about the film's plot. The book, which will be available starting Aug. 4, 2026, and will cost $50, details Spider-Man: Brand New Day's placement in the MCU timeline and some major teases for the film, including a villainous conspiracy and Peter Parker's past coming back to haunt him. The synopsis reads:
Four years have gone by since we last caught up with our friendly neighborhood hero. Peter Parker is no more, but Spider-Man is at the top of his game keeping New York City safe. Things are going well for our anonymous hero until an unusual trail of crimes pulls him into a web of mystery larger than he’s ever faced before. In order to take on what’s ahead, Spider-Man not only needs to be at the top of his physical and mental game, but he must also be prepared to face the repercussions of his past!"
'Spider-Man: Brand New Day's Place in the MCU Timeline, Villains, and More
Spider-Man being drawn into a "trial of crime" helps explain the large number of villains present in Brand New Day. Michael Mando will reprise his role as Mac Gargan / Scorpion, making his long-awaited MCU return following his tease at the end of Homecoming. Marvin Jones III will play Lonnie Lincoln / Tombstone, an albino crime boss with super strength and near-indestructible skin. Supposedly leaked promo art also suggests that Boomerang and Tarantula will appear in the upcoming sequel. This certainly explains how the Punisher is drawn into the conflict, while the crime conspiracy could also lead Bruce Banner to lose control of The Hulk.
The big question is what repercussions from Peter's past will come into play for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The obvious one is the mind-spell cast by Doctor Strange in No Way Home that made everyone forget who Peter was. Zendaya is reportedly set to reprise her role as Michelle "MJ" Jones, though the extent of her role in the film remains unknown. There is also the status of Sadie Sink's mysterious character, with theories spanning from the X-Men's Jean Grey to the multiversal god Shathra. The Brand New Day synopsis might have answered some questions, but it also raises even more that hopefully the trailer will answer.
