If you haven't already, you might want to circle August 14, 2026, on your calendars. That's the date you may want to take your kiddos to their very first movie, because PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie is coming to the big screen. This will be the third PAW Patrol movie, but it may be the first one that your little ones are ready for and excited to see in theaters.
"This is the biggest adventure the pups have been on by far," says Cal Brunker, the director and co-writer of the film. "It’s my favorite PAW Patrol movie yet, definitely an adventure to experience on the largest screen possible!"
Parents is not only getting a first look at some of the images that will set the scene for the film, but we're also getting the scoop on what PAW Patrol fans can expect from the writer and director himself!
All About 'PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie'
The movie starts with the PAW Patrol crew landing on a remote tropical island after their ship gets caught in a storm. But the island is filled with dinosaurs! That's where Rex comes in. Rex, a Bernese Mountain Dog, was introduced in season 7 of the show, but has never been in a movie.
"Rex has been stranded on Dino Island for years. In that time, he’s learned everything about the dinosaurs living there, and it makes him the perfect guide to show the PAW Patrol around," explains Brunker.
Of course, it's Mayor Humdinger, the PAW Patrol's archrival, that starts trouble. He begins mining on the island to gain access to its precious natural resources. But in doing so, he ends up causing a dormant volcano to erupt. That's when the PAW Patrol has to step in to stop Humdinger before the island is ruined! And of course, their rescues and adventures are dino-sized, so they are bigger than any they've ever embarked on before!

"There’s some cool details in these first images we’re sharing with the world," shares Brunker. "There’s a look inside Rex’s treehouse, some great images of Dino Island, and something sneaky hiding behind Marshall in the jungle!"
Brunker adds that he's really excited for fans to see Rex on the big screen. But fans will also get to learn more about Marshall's backstory. "Last but not least, the dinosaurs. I mean, who doesn’t love dinosaurs?!" exclaims Brunker.
The Themes Families Can Expect to See
As with any PAW Patrol episode or movie, there are important lessons to learn and themes that parents and kids can walk away with. One key issue in PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie is inclusion.
"We think it’s important that everyone in our audience can see themselves reflected on the screen. Everyone has a hero inside them, just like the pups," explains Brunker.
If you're a fan, you know that Rex uses a wheeled walker.
"To him, it’s second nature; he’s figured out how to move through the jungle with ease. He swings on vines, rolls down roots, and rides on the back of a giant T-Rex named Timmy. Rex’s greatest strength is his resilience. He knows that if at first you don’t succeed, you’ve got to try again. He uses the lessons he’s learned on the island to help Marshall find his confidence," says Brunker.
But that's not the only lesson learned.
"In this movie, Marshall struggles with his clumsiness and all the mistakes he keeps making. Over the course of the movie, he learns that everybody makes mistakes. Mistakes are how you get better. The important thing is to be the pup who never gives up," adds Brunker.
The PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie cast includes some famous voices parents may recognize, including Paris Hilton, Jennifer Hudson, Terry Crews, Snoop Dogg, and Bill Nye. PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie is not yet rated; however, the past two films were rated PG.
