Josh Hutcherson And Mackenzie Davis Lead DC’s Mister Miracle Animated Series

DC’s Mister Miracle animated series has its leads.

Josh Hutcherson voices Scott Free and Mackenzie Davis voices Big Barda, DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran revealed in a new interview with IGN.

Safran also revealed that Tom King wrote the entire series himself, all eight episodes.

Tom King Wrote All Eight Episodes

“I think that Tom King really learned a lot in his season of co-creating and executive producing Lanterns and he adapted his book Mr. Miracle fully on his own, wrote all eight episodes and I think it’s just dynamite,” Safran said. “Josh Hutcherson as Scott Free and Mackenzie Davis as Big Barda.”

Warner Bros. Animation and DC Studios greenlit Mister Miracle in June 2025 at the Annecy animation festival, with King attached as showrunner and executive producer. The series adapts the Eisner-winning 12-issue comic King created with artist Mitch Gerads.

No voice cast was announced at the time. Nathan Fillion revealed in August that he voices Guy Gardner in the series, making Hutcherson and Davis the first leads confirmed.

Safran also named Mister Miracle among the animated projects furthest along at DC, alongside Creature Commandos Season 2, My Adventures with Green Lantern, Starfire, and DC Superpowers, saying all are “creatively way down the road.”

A network and premiere date have still not been announced.

‘This Book Saved My Life’

The comic follows Scott Free, the world’s greatest escape artist and a celebrity on Earth, as he and his warrior wife Big Barda get pulled back into the war between their home worlds, New Genesis and Apokolips, with Darkseid closing in on the Anti-Life Equation.

Safran said the book means a lot to readers.

“I remember Tom telling us early on that, every convention he goes to, at least a couple people come up to him and say this book saved my life and I love that we got to tell that story over eight episodes,” Safran said.

“It’s just a beautiful story about, ‘How do we survive in today’s world knowing that we’re never going to truly know the answers to the big questions in life?'” Safran continued. “It’s a beautiful book and the adaptation is fantastic so we’re excited about that.”

Hutcherson is best known for The Hunger Games and Five Nights at Freddy’s. Davis starred in Halt and Catch Fire, Station Eleven, and Terminator: Dark Fate.
