Fellowship of Fans, who shared the initial casting report, have released an update that claims actor Gavi Singh Chera will no longer be playing a form of Sauron in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2.
The outlet says that Chera was never down for the role in the first place.
According to the group of Tolkien tipsters, news of Chera’s Sauron casting was shared by an anonymous source aiming to trigger a response in order to see how fans of the show would respond to the idea.
Chera was initially reported to be playing another form of Sauron in the second season of Rings of Power, the first form being played by actor Charlie Vickers who deceived characters such as Galadriel.
Although the tipsters say Chera’s not playing Sauron, they do claim to know some details about his casting.
According to the group of scoopers, Chera is set to play a completely new character from a race that has yet to be seen in Prime Video’s live-action Lord of the Rings prequel series.
It’s currently unclear if Chera’s character’s race is directly from J. R. R. Tolkien’s lore, however, judging by how much Amazon spent gaining particular rights for the show – it’s likely he will be.
Just keep in mind that none of this news has yet to be confirmed by the cast and crew of The Rings of Power Season 2, and is just a rumour from a group of hardcore fans of Tolkien’s work.
It should also be noted that Vickers will be returning as Halbrand in Season 2 of Rings of Power, it’s just been reported that there will be various forms of Sauron – just as it was written by Tolkien himself.
After all, Sauron still has a lot of deceiving to do, and his form as Halbrand has already been discovered by Galadriel as seen during the later moments of the first season.
Needless to say, all will be revealed eventually, so stay tuned for official updates.
